Event Schedule for 100th Anniversary Celebration



27th at 10:00 AM: Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Park, JFK Boulevard and Landis Avenue, during which Mayor Desiderio will officially launch the SICBP’s 100th Anniversary Celebration.  Additionally, the Mayor will honor former Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Captain Anthony Jumbo Cannova, who was the first Sea Isle resident to sign-up for World War I, and all SICBP lifeguards who served in the US Military.



11th at 8:00 AM: Mass in honor of all deceased Sea Isle City Lifeguards at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 4300 Landis Avenue.  The public is welcome to attend.

11th at 10:45 AM: Parade along the Promenade (29th to 44th Streets).  One hundred year old alumnus Andy Sannino, the oldest living Sea Isle City lifeguard, will serve as Grand Marshal.  The parade will also feature lifeguard boats, additional alumni, other dignitaries, and more. 

11th at 11:15 AM: 100th Anniversary Ceremony at 43rd Street, site of first lifeguard stand in Sea Isle City. Ceremony will include gun salute, bagpipes, prayers, and speeches by various dignitaries.  The ceremony will end with Row-Out Ceremony, during which two Sea Isle City lifeguard boats will be rowed by alumni past the breakers, where flowers will be set adrift in honor of all deceased beach patrol members.

11th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM: Beach Patrol Open House.  Both alumni and the general public can enjoy guided tours through Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Headquarters, where they can view equipment, awards from competitions, and pictures from past decades.


13th at 10:00 AM: History Presentation of the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol at the Sea Isle City Library, 4800 Central Avenue, presented by former SICBP Captains Mike McHale and Bill Gallagher.

13th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM: Beach Patrol Open House.  The general public is invited to enjoy free guided tours through Beach Patrol Headquarters, 44th Street and the Promenade, where they can view present day equipment, awards from competitions, and pictures of past decades.

13th at 3:00 PM: Paddle-Out Wreath Ceremony (floating memorial service) on 44rd Street Beach, with lifeguard boats, paddleboards, and wave runners to honor deceased members of the beach patrol.

13th at 7:00 PM: Annual Alumni Association Dinner, during which the newest Hall of Fame inductees will be honored. Location TBD.


Other Activities Associated with the 100th Anniversary Celebration

  • • Commemorative 100th Anniversary Tee Shirts will be on sale to alumni, current lifeguards, and the general public.  The limited edition shirts sell for $15 each.  They can be purchased at Beach Patrol Headquarters, 44th Street and Promenade, during regular business hours, seven days a week, starting Memorial Day Weekend.


  • • Follow the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol on Facebook and Instagram to view pictures and read historical facts pertaining to the 100 year history of our Beach Patrol.  Look for new posts each Thursday on “Throw Back Thursdays”


  • • The Sea Isle City Historical Museum, located on the first level of the Sea Isle City Library at 4800 Central Avenue, has created a comprehensive display of beach patrol memorabilia.  This display will be available for viewing until October of 2019.
