Sea Isle City Beach Patrol's Lifeguards in Training (LIT) program for the summer of 2025, which is opened to applicants ages 14 to 17, will be held each Tuesday and Thursday from July 22 through August 7. Times for the program, which takes place at 44th Street on the beach, are from 10:30 AM until 1:00 PM. Enrollment in the program is limited to the first 40 applicants. Weather postponements will be announced by 9:45 AM on the home page of the beach patrol's website.
The program will introduce basic lifesaving skills and rescue techniques as an educational and physical training foundation for prospective beach patrol employees. Beach patrol instructors will apply principles of surf bashing, swimming, running, paddling, and ocean rowing to techniques of water rescue and beach management appropriate to age and developing skill. LITs developing through the program to the advanced level who are sixteen years of age or older may be selected for employment with the beach patrol upon graduating the program in August. For those LIT's employed, there will be one day of training required on Wednesday, August 13th.
Preference on hiring at the beginning of each summer season is given to individuals who have participated in this program.
LITs who are 15, 16, or 17 years of age (not 14), can sign up for a stroke clinic by indicating their desire on the registration form. The clinic, which starts in late June / early July, is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM. To be considered for the stroke clinic a candidate's LIT registration must be received by June 15th. The clinic is intended for those in need of swim instruction who will seek employment with the beach patrol upon graduating the program in August or at the beginning of the 2026 summer season. The clinic is not intended for those presently on a swim team.
LITs can also sign up for rowing instruction by indicating their desire on the registration form. The program, which starts in late June / early July, is held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:15 AM until 8:45 AM. To be considered for rowing instruction a candidate's LIT registration must be received by June 15th. The rowing program is intended for those who will seek employment with the beach patrol upon graduating the program in August or at the beginning of the 2026 summer season.
All LITs should bring a towel, running shoes, sunblock, liquids to stay properly hydrated, and needed medications.
A fee of twenty-five dollars per applicant is necessary to help defray the cost of pool rentals, the LIT uniform shirts distributed to each participant, and the end of the program barbeque. The fee is due when the registration form is submitted. Checks should be made payable to Sea Isle City Beach Patrol.

A second option starting Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend is to deliver the registration form directly to Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Headquarters located at 44th Street and Promenade. Headquarters is where LITs report for roll call each day of the program.
